Suzuki Outboard Engines & “Lean Burn” Fuel-Efficient Technology
MARINE NEWS

With the successful development of Lean Burn fuel-saving technology, achieved through precise calculation of the optimal fuel amount for each engine load condition, Suzuki’s four-stroke outboard engines deliver superior fuel efficiency compared to other engines of the same power under similar operating conditions.
Lean Burn technology operates through advanced microprocessors and sensors that continuously supply the exact amount of fuel throughout your journey. These microprocessors and sensors calculate the optimal fuel quantity, ensuring the best possible air–fuel mixture. As a result, combustion in the cylinder is more complete, improving engine performance, reducing fuel consumption, and minimizing environmental impact.
Lean Burn technology was first applied to the DF70A/80A/90A models and received highly positive feedback from customers. It was subsequently expanded across Suzuki’s mid-range and high-horsepower outboard models.
Based on actual performance data tested in Suzuki’s dedicated testing facilities, which simulate stable cruising engine speeds, the DF300AP test model demonstrated fuel savings of more than 14% compared to the same-power model without Lean Burn technology, the DF300.
Test results for other models:
DF25A/30A: 16%
DF40A/50A: 42%
DF60A: 45%
DF70A/90A/100A/115A/140A: 14%
DF150TG: 15%
DF175TG: 16%
DF200A: 19%
DF250AP/300AP: 14%
(Results are compared with Suzuki models of the same power output without Lean Burn technology.)
