Rheinmetall Unveils the GMF 140 Next-Generation Frigate

Rheinmetall has unveiled the GMF 140, a next-generation 140-metre, 6,000-plus-tonne guided missile frigate designed to deliver capability across the full spectrum of modern naval warfare. Developed to meet the evolving requirements of NATO and allied navies, it aims to set a new benchmark for survivability, lethality and mission flexibility. The GMF 140 combines advanced air and ballistic missile defence, anti-suaining flexible for expeditionary, littoral and coalition missions. It is designed to integrate US-sourced primary radar options, the AEGIS Combat System and 64 Strike-bmarine warfare and long-range strike within a highly survivable, digitally integrated and minimally manned platform, optimised for blue-water operations while remLength Vertical Launch System cells, and can alternatively be offered with Lockheed Martin's CMS330. Features include advanced anti-submarine warfare, a low-signature hull, hull-mounted and towed sonar, and support for embarked helicopters and unmanned systems. Rheinmetall intends to offer it initially in North America.
