Humphree Launches a Fully Integrated Three-Component Boat Stabilization System

Humphree is launching a fully integrated three-component marine stabilization system, combining a new gyro with its existing interceptors and fins. The company says the system aims to transform how boats are stabilized across the entire speed range, enabling more days at sea and a new level of onboard comfort.

For the first time, a gyro, interceptors and fins are combined in one single, fully synchronized platform, all controlled by a central control unit that continuously analyzes the boat's motions. The system builds on Humphree's proven fin stabilization technology, which delivers stabilization across the full speed range; adding the gyro creates a more complete and optimized solution in which roll, pitch and yaw are managed within one unified system. Because all components are provided and supported by Humphree, boat builders benefit from a single point of contact for integration, service and long-term optimization, while owners benefit from streamlined support throughout the vessel's lifecycle.

As the gyro spins at many thousand revolutions per minute, it generates a stabilizing force that counteracts wave motion, operating proactively before movements build up. According to Humphree, the integrated system can reduce roll by up to 95 percent, depending on boat type and operating conditions. "By integrating gyros, fins and interceptors into a single coordinated system, we can help boat builders and owners optimize stabilization for their specific vessel, application, and operating profile," notes Björn Säljö, CEO at Humphree.

The new gyro, called HIG5, is the first model in a new product range, offering flexibility and optimization for boats of different sizes and continuously managed by a dedicated control unit that adjusts the system in real time. All Humphree systems support remote access, enabling worldwide technical support, remote diagnostics, sea trials and system configuration to minimize downtime. The integration will make its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, and will be available first through boat builders and selected dealers in the Mediterranean region, followed by a North American launch.
