American Rheinmetall has received an 18-month U.S. Army contract for Project Sustainment, awarded through the National Advanced Mobility Consortium. As prime contractor, the company will deliver next-generation uncrewed ground vehicle (UGV) capabilities to support the Army's tactical sustainment operations and modernization goals.
The hybrid-powered, autonomous UGVs are designed for company-sized sustainment missions, autonomously moving supplies to and from the forward line of troops to reduce risk to Soldiers and improve efficiency in contested environments. The program stresses autonomy, commerciality, and hybrid power, and adds features such as voice control. Work spans U.S. facilities and test ranges.
American Rheinmetall is teaming with Harbinger, Forterra, and Primordial Labs, whose natural-language interface Anura enables hands-free operation. The contract includes potential follow-on orders as the Army modernizes its autonomous logistics fleet.
